Event Description

Given the increasing sense of loneliness and isolation that many students feel as an effect from COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that instructors consider ways to check in on students. In this conversation, we will discuss strategies that instructors can use to check in on their students in the virtual classroom setting. We will talk about different types of questions you can ask and ways to build the questions into the class. While we do not expect instructors to act as mental health professionals for students, we do believe in the importance of knowing how to identify students who are struggling and confidently refer them to care.

Registration is open to anyone currently teaching or who is currently an assistant in instruction in a for-credit course at WashU.

Prior registration is required, and participant limits are set at 20 to ensure that all will have the chance to discuss their ideas and concerns.
