Instructional staff and faculty often miss out on learning about the positive influence they have on their students. To ensure our educators understand the depth of their impact, the Center for Teaching and Learning launched the Thank a Professor program, encouraging students to show gratitude to those who have made extra efforts to support their education.
How it works:
- Annually at the end of April, the CTL sets up Thank a Prof stations across the Danforth Campus and publicizes the locations.
- At Thank a Prof stations, students fill out thank-you cards that let instructors know they are making a difference and that their efforts are recognized and appreciated.
- CTL staff screens the messages to ensure they are messages of gratitude, then documents and addresses the notecards for delivery to the on-campus mailstop for the person being thanked.
- University mail services deliver the notes to their intended recipients in the last week of the semester.
Thousands of notes have been sent to committed faculty and staff from appreciative learners in the years since the program’s start. This April, we hope you will join us in thanking educators who have positively impacted your academic career.
