How Can I Help

I am passionate about identifying student needs, and creating and providing resources that help student meet those needs and enable them to be successful life-long learners.

Dr. Jay Sriram joined the Cornerstone team in Nov 2016. Jay is passionate about supporting students’ academic transition from high school to college by providing opportunities for students to be active/independent learners in equitable ways. At the Learning Center, she continuously assesses student needs, adapts/manages programs to meet the varying needs of students, recruits and manages a team of professional staff, and allocates resources.

Prior to joining Washington University, Jay served as a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Center for Teaching & Learning at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. At UMSL, she taught Introductory Biology (Organisms and the Environment) lectures and recitations. She was also responsible for programming, coordinating and evaluating Supplemental Instruction, a student support model for Organic Chemistry, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Logistics and Management and History courses. Jay also served as a Biology Instructor for two summers at STEM Summer Academy for incoming freshmen students at Harris Stowe State University.

At Miami University of Ohio, for her doctoral dissertation, Jay, developed, taught, and evaluated a student support supplemental course (course design grounded in Merlin C. Wittrock’s Generative Learning Theory) for the Introductory Biology course series, emphasizing discipline-specific learning strategies.
