Emily Wasserman joined the Center for Teaching and Learning in September 2018 as the Communications & Event Specialist. Emily earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in 2013. She is also a proud Washington University in St. Louis alum. She graduated in 2010 from the College of Arts and Sciences with degrees in English and French.
Emily brings a diverse background in communications to her position at the Teaching Center. She began her career as a journalist in Washington, D.C., covering the biotech industry. She transitioned to freelance writing and contributed to publications such as St. Louis Magazine, Missouri Life Magazine, DC Inno, Austin Inno, Fodor’s, and Huffington Post.
Prior to working at the Center for Teaching and Learning, Emily worked as a communications specialist in the Department of Genetics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She implemented a broad communications strategy including using Facebook and Twitter posts to boost the department’s visibility. She also managed the department’s website and websites for multiple labs.
