At the Learning Center, we extend the learning environment beyond the classroom walls.

Professional staff and hundreds of peer mentors, leaders, and coaches collaborate with campus partners to provide undergraduates with the support and resources that will enhance their intellectual development and academic experience.

Our Philosophy

We are committed to:

  • Being the hub of academic support at WashU

We believe collaboration is the key to academic success, whether between students, instructors, or campus partners.
  • Improving students’ learning outcomes

We believe this should include their satisfaction and attitude towards learning, not just their grades.
  • Providing equitable access to academic support

We believe all students have unique needs and strengths and are capable of being successful – we should meet them where they are, not where we expect them to be.
  • Creating campus leaders

We believe students are experts in their own academic experience, which is why they make the best leaders, mentors, and coaches – at WashU and beyond.
  • Normalizing help-seeking behavior

We believe that fostering growth mindset, a spirit of collaboration, and a sense of belonging among all students can only enhance the academic climate on campus.
