Event Description

A research experience is high impact educational practice that can provide many benefits for students: career support, a sense of belonging, and access to resources to graduate programs. For underrepresented and first-generation students, these opportunities greatly enhance student success and positively shape one’s science identity.  This workshop is designed to give mentors a framework for designing inclusive and productive research mentoring relationships.  After attending this workshop, attendees will be able to integrate inclusive mentoring practices by:

  • Focusing on the benefits of mentoring for mentees and mentors
  • Take a growth mindset to research process
  • Discuss characteristics of successful research mentoring
