Welcome to the Registration Site for the Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation 2021
Graduate students who are serving as assistants in instruction for the first time in Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 are required by the Graduate School to complete the annual University-Wide, Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation. During the week of August 23rd, the Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation program will provide graduate students the opportunity to learn about university policies and procedures for university teaching as well as attend a Foundations in Teaching (FIT) workshop. Overall, they’ll discover: Policies related to Title IX, student wellness, emergency preparedness, as well as about how to access other key campus resources. Effective approaches for creating and maintaining a safe, fair, inclusive learning environment. Evidence-based teaching strategies on topics central to those serving as an MTE like establishing classroom authority, providing feedback to students, and increasing student participation. Insights from experienced graduate student MTEs in their discipline. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Graduate School.
