Program Description

The AI Curriculum Corps equips faculty with resources and support to design new modules, assignments, and courses that critically examine AI and thoughtfully incorporate it as an object of study and a tool for curricular innovation. Faculty will lead the design process supported by expert curriculum developers from the Center for Teaching and Learning, software developers from the Digital Intelligence and Innovation (DI2) Accelerator, technologists from Information Technology, and information scientists from the WashU Libraries. Student partners will contribute feedback throughout the iterative process and participants will have access to advanced AI tools, such as Gemini for Education, NotebookLM, and custom-built tools to support their development.

Faculty will be awarded a stipend for their work.

The AI Curriculum Corps includes two tiers for participation. Following either experience, faculty will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor to future Curriculum Corps participants for an additional stipend.

Tier 1

Tier 1 will focus on creating or revising a single assignment that meaningfully integrates AI into the student workflow. Participants will leave this experience with an assignment that has been reviewed by the CTL, peers, and students and is ready to deploy in the next iteration of their course.

Tier 1 will meet in person during the mornings of May 18–22. By the end of the week, on May 22, participants will have a completed assignment ready for implementation. During the Fall 2026 semester, we will schedule a check-in during your availability to assess classroom implementation and student response.

Tier 2

Tier 2 of the Curriculum Corps will focus on creating or revising an entire course. Faculty will leave this experience with a syllabus ready to submit to their program’s respective Curriculum Committee. Learning objectives and assessments will be reviewed by the CTL, peers, and students so that they are ready to deploy during Spring or Fall 2027.

Tier 2 will meet in person during the mornings of June 1 – 5 and for three virtual sessions (July 10, July 31, and August 14). All Tier 2 course materials must be completed by August 14. A check-in will take place in person during the Fall 2026 semester and during the first offering of the course to assess classroom implementation and student response, during your availability.

Please note that participation in Tier 2 requires a letter of support from your Department Chair.

Applications are due for both tiers by April 6th and selected participants will be announced April 15.
