Event Description
A research experience is high impact educational practice that can provide many benefits for students: career support, a sense of belonging, and access to resources to graduate programs. For underrepresented and first-generation students, these opportunities greatly enhance student success and positively shape one’s science identity. This workshop is designed to give mentors a framework for designing inclusive and productive research mentoring relationships. After attending this workshop, attendees will be able to integrate inclusive mentoring practices by:
- Focusing on the benefits of mentoring for mentees and mentors
- Take a growth mindset to research process
- Discuss characteristics of successful research mentoring
