Event Description

Generative AI has upended many familiar assumptions about teaching and learning, leaving both instructors and students navigating a great deal of uncertainty. This workshop, co-hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Dialogue Across Difference program, introduces a dialogue-based approach to talking with students about a range of topics, including what’s at stake when deciding to use or avoid AI, the expectations you have in your own course, and the values essential to your discipline. In this interactive section, we’ll model structured dialogue techniques you can use to surface differing student perspectives and build shared understanding in your classroom. You’ll leave with concrete conversation strategies you can adapt to your course, along with a clearer sense of how to facilitate a productive and engaging discussion. The workshop is designed for all instructors, from AI resistors to AI adopters.
