Teaching and Learning in an Age of Precarious Student Visas
Facilitator:
Rick Moore, Associate Director for Faculty Programming
- 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
- via Zoom
Event Description
Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in student visa cancellations and other challenges to students’ ability to remain in the US. How can we as instructors respond to these changes? What are strategies we can use to support our students in the classroom during these difficult times, especially those students who are potentially at an increased risk of deportation?
Please join us for a panel discussion on issues surrounding teaching and learning given the current state of the U.S. student visa system. We are bringing together WashU experts on migration and immigration to join in conversation on how the current crisis impacts our current and future teaching.
Panelists:
- Stephanie Shady, Lecturer, Associate Director of Graduate Studies, Department of Political Science
- Margot Moinester, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology
- Katie Meyer, Professor of Practice, Director of the Immigration Law Clinic, School of Law
Panel moderated by Rick Moore, Associate Director for Faculty Programming, Center for Teaching and Learning.
