Meet the Fall 2024 Educational Development Fellows

Nicole A. Strombom, JD, MPH, CPH (she/her)

Nicole is a 5th year Public Health Sciences PhD student and the Co-President of the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC). She is a returning CTL Fellow and excited to continue working on several CTL initiatives. This fall Nicole will focus on several items including the launch of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Network for Inquiry, Teaching, and Engagement (IGNITE) and continuing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research.

Nicole is excited to continue to grow her teaching knowledge, collaborate with other CTL Fellows, and help the CTL continue to provide meaningful programing to graduate students. In addition to her role as a CTL Fellow, Nicole will continue to serve on the CTL’s Graduate Student and Postdoc Advisory Council.

Sophie Su

Sophie is a fourth-year PhD student in Psychological and Brain Sciences. Her research centers on the construction and updating of mental models during reading comprehension and movie viewing. Sophie is a returning graduate fellow for the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

In her previous work, she utilized large language models (LLMs) to classify and group concerns and feedback from Assistant in Teaching (AIT) graduates regarding teaching and workshops. She is eager to continue her role in data analysis, especially in textual analysis, and has a growing interest in data visualization projects.

Ljupcho Petrov

Ljupcho is a Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics at WashU, specializing in harmonic analysis, particularly weighted inequalities and one-sided weights. He has taught courses such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, and was recognized with the 2024 Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

As a CTL Graduate Fellow for Fall 2024, Ljupcho is excited to co-facilitate the EPiC learning community and contribute to workshops aimed at enhancing teaching practices. Dedicated to both research and teaching, he is committed to advancing his academic career while fostering inclusive and effective learning environments. Known for his optimistic nature, Ljupcho approaches challenges with a positive attitude and strives to inspire a deep understanding of mathematics in his students.

Alex Mouw

Alex is a PhD candidate in English and a Lynne Cooper Harvey fellow in American Studies. His research focuses on poetry and poetics and twentieth- and twenty-first century American culture.

Alex has worked as an instructor and tutor in several university, writing center, and high school settings. He is excited to work and learn alongside graduate students in the CTL’s IGNITE program and the GSPD reading group.
