Tutorials on how to use the Panopto Online editor.

Getting to the Editor

  1. Navigate to the video you want to edit and click on the edit icon:

Trimming a Video

  1. To trim a video using the editor, click and drag on the timeline to select the portion you want to trim and then click on the scissors icon: 

  2. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:↳ NOTE: You will not see an obvious indication that the Trim operation worked, but once the video has finished processing, you will see that the part you trimmed out is gone.  If you go back in to the Editor, the trimmed portion will still show up, allowing you to add it back in if you desire.  This is known as non-destructive editing.   

Adding a Secondary Stream

  1. To add a secondary stream, navigate to the desired timestamp on the timeline, click on the “+” icon next to the Trim icon and select “Add a stream”:

  2. Upload the desired file by either dragging and dropping the file between the dashed lines or clicking in between the dashed lines to bring up the file menu:

  3. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:

Adding PowerPoint Slides

  1. To add PowerPoint Slides, click the “+” icon and select “Add a stream”: 
  2. Make sure to add the slide to the second dash-lined box:
  3. Your slides will appear on the Slides tab on the sidebar. You can now click on the desired timestamp on the timeline and then click the “+” button on the PowerPoint slide to add the slide to the timeline: 

  4. You can edit the timestamp or delete a slide in the Contents tab by clicking on the “More Actions” icon (three vertical dots) next to the slide: 

  5. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:

Adding a Clip

  1. To add a clip to the video, navigate to the desired timestamp on the timeline, click on the “+” icon and select “Add a Clip”:

  2. Select the desired file and click “Insert”:
  3. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:

Adding a Quiz

  1. To add a quiz, navigate to the desired timestamp on the timeline, click on the “+” icon and select “Add a Quiz”:

  2. Select the type of question you want to use from the drop down and then fill out the required information:
  3.  Once you are done, you can either:
    • Click on “Add a Question” too add another question directly after the current one.
    •  Click “Done” to end this quiz section.
  4. Once you are done, you will be able too review the quiz section settings. Click “Finish” after reviewing:

Adding a Youtube Video

  1. To add a YouTube video, navigate to the desired timestamp on the timeline, click on the “+” icon and select “Add a Youtube Video”:

  2. Fill out the required information and then click “Done”:
  3. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:

Adding a Webpage

  1. To add a webpage as a secondary stream, navigate to the desired timestamp on the timeline, click on the “+” icon and select “Add a webpage”: 

  2. Fill out the required information and then click “Save”:

  3. Once you are done, click “Apply” at the top of the page:
