Welcome to the Registration Site for the Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation 2025
Graduate students who are serving as Assistants in Instruction for the first time in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 are required to complete the annual university wide Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation. The Graduate Student Mentored Teaching Orientation program will provide graduate students the opportunity to learn about university policies and procedures for university teaching as well as attend a Foundations in Teaching (FiT) workshop. Overall, you will discover policies related to Title IX, student wellness, emergency preparedness, as well as about how to access other key campus resources; effective approaches for creating and maintaining a safe, fair, inclusive learning environment; and evidence-based teaching strategies on topics central to those serving as an MTE like establishing classroom authority, grading, presentation skills, providing feedback to students, and increasing student participation.
