Entering Mentoring for Graduate Students and Postdocs

Participants who successfully complete the course will earn a Certificate of Completion for Entering Mentoring

Bio 5922 Entering Mentoring is designed to guide bench mentors through successfully mentoring their undergraduate research assistants.  It will cover aligning expectations with mentees, handling challenges, practices that promote diversity and inclusivity, coaching mentees on communicating their research, and many other related topics.  This course is using the CIMER Entering Mentoring curriculum with additional workshops to further support mentoring efforts.  Participants who successfully complete the course will earn a Certificate of Completion for Entering Mentoring.  All research fields are welcome!

This course will meet for one hour once a week during the semester.  Days and times will be selected closer to the start of the semester based on participants’ availability, but it’s anticipated that meetings at either the beginning of the day or the end.

Graduate students can register as normal for the course, while Postdocs can use their tuition benefits by registering through UCollege, where Bio 5922 is cross-listed as U29 492.  The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs has information on how to use tuition benefits and first-time registrations for UCollege courses.
