Event Description

Explore ways to take instruction off the screen for engaged and immersive learning with us! WashU professor Todd Decker will share case-studies from film and music history courses, highlighting how material culture and community immersion can invite students to be truly present in a collective experience. We’ll discuss, for example, how intergenerational contexts and browsing hardcopy course materials can expand students’ understanding of the course topic. Importantly, you’ll have opportunities to think about what analog experiences might look like in your courses.

This event is part of Teaching With Joy, a series of events that provide opportunities to have fun, connect with others, and explore – in other words, that remind us that teaching can be joyful. Our monthly Teaching with Joy meetings are run by experts across campus and beyond with a focus on different topics related to joyous teaching.
