Dr. Annie Prud’homme-Généreux, director of continuing studies at Capilano University, outlines five ideas to format discussions including #Hashtag that Photo Safari; or asking students to go on a field trip to apply concepts they’ve learned in class and documenting their findings in photos; Virtual Scavenger Hunt, or asking students to peruse the internet to find examples of the concept they’re studying; Guessing Game, or having students create a post or example that illustrates a concept, and asking their peers to guess what concept they’re describing; Forced Analogy, or comparing a concept to a well-known object or system; and Flawed Design, or presenting information with flaws and having students identify those flaws.
